Hey all,
I am working on installing a 292 from a truck into my 55 T-Bird just to see if I like driving it before I start dumping cash into fixing it.
I installed an ECZ-9425-B manifold and a modern Holley carb, I'm using the truck distributor with mechanical and vacuum advance. My question is what size air filter will fit under the hood? I'm sure someone has done this before me so I'm looking to learn from your experience before I start buying and returning air cleaners.

Also, the manifold I bought came with a 1/2" spacer EDB-9603-C. Was this factory on T-Bird engines? Should I use the spacer on my '55? It seems like not using it would give me more room under the hood.

Thanks!

Here's my 55, 292 with Holley and factory (I think) air cleaner. Looks like it has a spacer as well. Maybe this will give you an idea. BTY, I advise to keep the spacer you have for future 'vapor lock' problems you will probably incur. Also, use non-ethenol for best results.

Thanks Tex. What is the outside diameter of that filter? I'm with you on the non-ethanol fuel!

This is just what I needed.
Thank you.
