Milage Update

I don't know that this is a "prize" to be winning, since I don't WANT to drive the car to death in just 2-3 years, but since January 9th, 2002, I've put 14,182 miles on my T-bird.

This comes from commuting about 600 miles a week to my work and graduate school, not counting special trips for other purposes. I'm trying to shift to using trains as much as possible -- I'd like to put less than 25,000 miles on the car for the year.

My wife and I have 3 of these great cars (we sold our child!.) The red Bird has 5100 miles and was delivered in Sept. of last year. The Blue Bird has 2000 miles and it's been here for a couple of months. And the Neiman Marcus car has only about 600 miles. Most all the miles on the red and blue cars were on trips. Very little local driving. The Neiman car is driven a little....only to keep it exercised.

Picked up my blue bird May 20, 2002 and went to Yakima Valley Wine country the first weekend put 650 miles on and since then another 600 so 1250 now. I don't want to put a lot of miles on but the Tbird always seems to be the car of choice. Not even using my 66 vette much

Our Blue Premium HT/Full accent #9429 was delivered January 26, 2002. It now has 5275 miles. It is also our car of choice over the 1997 Cougar. The Cougar is nice but it isn't a convertible. It does have one advantage (or disadvantage sometimes) in that it holds five adults. The Thunderbird is my daily driver and has also been on a few weekend trips of up to 750 miles.

I have 9500 miles on my blackbird since Feb 1st. I am going to visit my rents this weekend for father's day and expect to put on another 1000. I would have more miles, but I am actually trying not to put miles on my baby.

"Jewel" has accumulated 1885 miles since 11/9/01. She is strictly a weekend toy. Bill (greenwr) - noticed you are planning on going to Destin, too. 02tbird (from Little Rock)and I have had a brief conversation about hooking up for the trip, so you need to get in the caravan with us. By the way, you better slow that red and white Razorback down or you'll wear her out the first year <g>.

My 100th post here (Corks popping, party favors honking, confetti flying): I've just passed 5,000 miles with Freyja, which puts me at about 20k per year; about 33% greater than my "legitimate" usage. You know those commercials where the person goes out of their way to drive their new Honda or whatever? This is the first car that has actually had that effect on me.

Paul, I have visited with Dot about hooking up with a group out of the Dallas area. May want to come back through Pine Bluff, Ark. So we might would out something for thereturn trip.

Got my Bird Jan.16 and it now has 5,600 miles(1200 miles/mo). It is not a daily driver, just a weekend and play car. I also have a ,bought new, 1996 Mustang Cobra Convertible (also a play car) with 17,000 miles (240 miles/mo.). Which do you think is the most fun to drive?

We have now had our car 14 days (at 4:30 this afternoon). It now has 633 miles on it which brings our average down to 45.2 miles per day. And we have three other vehicles that we have been driving too. Of course I'll put 10 more miles on it on the way home today and Dot will be using it tonight.
Our average will drop in the next few weeks as it will sit in the garage while we drive the '57 to Parsippany, NJ for the Convention and on to Atlanta for the 4th of July parade.
Where do the miles come from???????
George.
