Phil, you get around as much as I do. What size battery are you using in the 57 tray?

I have a 1957 battery tray in my '55 Tbird. I purchased it from NPD. The '57 tray will accommodate both the Group 29 and Group 32 batteries. The hold down is different depending upon which battery you use. I have a Group 29NF battery in my car. I bought mine from the local O'Reilly's store. They had to order it.Phil, you get around as much as I do. What size battery are you using in the 57 tray?
No, It's a standard oldschool battery.Phil, is that an AGM/sealed battery?

If you can get it to work 'as is' I'd say don't convert. Tons of time and money to fix something that ain't broke. So far my car is still 6V I have had NO starting issue with it. It does have an Optima battery in it which in my experience will outperform the current lead-acid 6 volt batteries available. By the time I modify the Radio, Heater fan, 2 door window motors, buy a 12V gen or alternator, change all the bulbs and then have to buy a battery it just is not worth it to "fix" something that is not broke!
My friend and I are both purists and our 1955 Thunderbirds are still 6 volt. He has the 6 volt Optima battery like yours and he bought this clocking device so the Optima battery looks period correct. So far my car is still 6V I have had NO starting issue with it. This information is to honor its author, the late Walt Nuckles.I was considering converting my 55 T-Bird from a 6 volt system to a 12 volt system.
It was suggested that the conversion would be quite costly and quite complicated
right down to changing every light bulb in the car.
Thoughts??
