very charming, must be a pleasure
very nice, drive it and enjoy
Stroked it out, new heads, pistons ,cam, crank, rockers, rods, springs, lifters, carb, oil pump ,intake manifold, fuel pump, water pump, radiator, alternator, ignition system and air filter. Rebuilt steering box and res. New plug wires and everything from the manifold to exit.
Looks like a fun project. What modifications did you make to the motor when you rebuilt it?
Nice! I assume these cars are pretty unusual down under, so it must really turn some heads!
This '64 entered our lives last year. It was in Idaho originally and has been in California since 2012. The car is all original, rust free, so mostly I've been focusing on performance upgrades to the 390 mill. Lots of fun taking it to local car shows and down to the Santa Cruz wharf on the weekends. A real barrel of monkeys!
my 02 is evening black with black & full red incert interior. i love the red line tires! i have been debating on buying a set for mine. i known they will look hot, but the price on them though.
Thanks Bird2u. I brought the car from Culver City Los Angeles in 2013. The car is an original “ special landau “ the interior was reupholstered in the states in a off white vinyl not the original parchment. I’ll post a picture soon
Where did you originally buy your car? Do you have any interior pictures? Great car!
She has new tires and a new exhaust now, but It's a big of an electrical nightmare at the moment. The ac/heater controls are not functioning correctly, all of the window motors need replaced and the rear tail lights like to flash going down the road like a ground wire is bouncing around or something... lol, but its been too cold here to work on it much, will spend a lot more time in the spring
I have been dealing with electrical issues that have been coming up on mine. Let me know if you get stuck I may be able to help.
I’m sure there is a car there someplace, have any pics of the body? So so good keep up the good work. Detail detail detail makes a good car
Had a 1964 Landau, Loved it, a Beautiful Car.
It came in the car two yrs ago. Thought it was factory. ?
Nice bird, like the stance
I really like the look of your center console. Where did you get it?
That's differential, not deferential. Deferential is an adjective meaning 'respectful.'
Differential is a noun name for the set of gears that allows a vehicle's drive wheels to turn at different speeds going around a corner.
....and do we care if she did?
I just picked the same model up from a gentleman that ran out of money and time.
Has a 4.6 DOHC and tons of goodies , just lacking lots of assembly .
For the winter I tucked it between my 68 fastback and my 51 merc , and they don't mind that it's fiberglass .
Good luck on your build
where did you order those fins from, I have the same car. Tsk FDF
Beauty, what kind of tires are those I have been looking for those whitewalls for years.
True Blue .
I found it on E Bay
where did you source that temporary spare pictured?
Phil in Tenn
Yours is a beauty. Recently bought a 56 in the "Thunderbird Green" ( vin ...6431) . Older restoration with all power and Vintage AC. A bit of sorting and it will be very nice driver for parade duty and local use. She loves the color.
Purchased in San Antonio, Texas.
This Bird lives with me in Austin, Texas.
Not For Sale,Yes that is original color back in 1956 only 250 were built that year.
Hey, It's not a Thunderbird but it's T-bird's big sister, 1965 Ford Galaxie XL 390 Convertible. I bought it last week for a winter restoration project.
Old Cars and old Women... Love 'em both
Semper Fi Charlie
Wow, !!! That's quite an undertaking, are you selling your "56"? Beautiful restoration. Is that the original colour?

Old and New, When Ford announced the New Thunderbird I was one of the thousands that sent Ford a deposit for an Inspiration Yellow one. Well, two years later, it was delivered.
