This remarkable 1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Landau, one of just ten ordered by Shelby American, stands out with its full options package and unique Shelby-Cragar wheels. While nine of these special Thunderbirds were part of a promotional sale, this particular car was Carroll Shelby's personal driver and demonstrator.
After Shelby's ownership, the car was sold to the father of his company's accountant, remaining in that family's estate until 1982. The current owner acquired it in 2018 and has since invested six years in a comprehensive refurbishment.
Originally specified in Candy Apple Red with black leather upholstery, this Thunderbird boasts a 428ci V8 engine with transistor ignition. It's equipped with luxurious features such as power windows and seats, Select Aire air conditioning, a Stereosonic tape system, heavy-duty suspension, rear fender shields, and Highway Pilot Control.
This historically significant Thunderbird was sold on September 8, 2024, for $46,500 USD.
