Mothball mayhem

My 1974 'Bird, in otherwise great condition was treated with mothballs in the carpet. Any way to get it out? If new carpet is the only fix, can anyone supply the Red Shag?

Have you tried having to carpets professionally cleaned ? They may have to repeat cleaning a second time. Unless the smell has made it through to lining, it's worth a try. Shop around though, may be large diff in price.
