Hi Guys

There is no PCM for my 2004 Thunderbird in the country. This is supposed to be a Ford Classic car, but Ford has stopped making parts. Now my supposed classic is a throw away piece of junk.

I want to start a class action suit against ford for leaving the classic car collectors out to dry! Please contact me if you can not use your car because the parts are no longer available. It is a crime for Ford to advertise and sell a collectable car and then discontinue parts manufacture after 10 years. Join me in the class action lawsuit to teach ford to stop ripping off their customers.

I am in, I have a 2003 and the PCM died this year but I was able to get it rebuilt which took 6 weeks. This is after I had to get the transmission rebuilt with only 74K Miles and now I have to replace the plastic Thermostat housing mess that is leaking. But I still love the car.

Just curious, where does it say these cars are collectible or classic? Exactly where would the cut off be for a manufacturer to stop making parts. The last TBird rolled off the assembly line 12 years ago. All the technology built into these cars was outdated then. There are after market places that will rebuild the PCM.

I have been lurking here as I ponder an 02 yellow retro ‘Bird. Not liking what I see. I’m a Mercedes guy, and through the Classic Centre in Irvine CA I can buy almost any part back to before WWII. In fact if I can find the part # I can get it from the local dealer. Seeing guys here spending thousands on a car with 50k miles. Might rethink a ‘Bird and stick with a 3 pointed star. Or bite the pension for enough to by the 55/56 I lusted after for years.

Federal law states that automobile manufacturers must have parts available for all models for 10 years

Was just going to comment that in my 30+ years at GM we would analyze parts need in the future and (at the time GMPD parts division would buy and warehouse ten years worth. Believe that Bird 52 is correct, 10 years seems to me the limit that a manufacturer is required to save.

Ok module manufacturers:

posted this thread from another site that I started for the good of the order. It was taken down, assuming that it came from another site. Will post relevant parts. Hope this helps. I don't think from Rock Auto to many others with this list of module manufactures you'll have a parts shortage (mechanical ) in your lifetime. Trim, call the Cubans, they'll help.

(2018) our friend DavidA just added this as a source:

this is the one that provided the PCM that got me running again. Flag Ship One (xxxxx also used in January 2017 with favorable results).

The following is one xxxxxx posted and I believe that xxxxx either used or found. Think this gent was also referred to me by xxxxx. Spoke to him at length and said module had to be sent to him. No shelf stock and might take two or three attempts at the right one. Both Links will get you to the same Company).

ROFLOL!!!!! I've been running this forum since 2001 and this is by far the dumbest post I've seen! Please tell me you are trolling and not serious! You bought an old used car, Ford didn't sell it to you, and it has no obligation to provide parts for it past 10 years. The PCM can be rebuilt, so you are upset over nothing. Also it's collectible, not "collectable".
