To the automotive racing world, red and gold is cringy. I CANNOT TOLERATE THE MERE THOUGHT OF ALAN MANN. How he treated American drivers was a mortal sin and his trademark "staged" race finish was what cost Ken Miles a first place at Le Mans in 1966.
John Wyer, his team and Mirage cars were superior in every way to Alan Mann's, even in spite of the very beautiful to the eye Mann/Bailey Ford F3/P68 cars.

ETA: The car OP pictured is some mash-up of GT40 Mk1, Shelby/Holman-Moody Mk2 and long-nose Mercury GT40 with a Mk3 nose stuck on it. Ugly.

The premise of the original article is flawed as ALL GT40/Lola Mk6 GT cars were built with aluminum monocoque chassis.
