1955 Thunderbird bolts and nuts on the dash

First, I know what or who the loose nut is behind the wheel. That being said, what are the studs and nuts for on the dash? I know they hold the defroster vents in place, but there is also a nut visible where the dash fits. Does something go there and if so, what? Pictures appreciated.

Looks like the stud to attach the duct work for the defroster. Attached is a picture of the stud on my 55.

Thanks, good to know there is nothing that goes on top of it. Long bolt, not like Henry to waste that much thread.
