Thunderbird Year
1970
About 2 years ago my 16-year-old son and I bought a 1970 2-door Landau Thunderbird to "fix up". This past week we finally got to our "almost done" state when we got the body work and paint finished at a local shop. We replaced or refurbished the brake system, suspension, steering, electrical wiring, floor pans, carpet, seats, stereo, body work, and paint (only body, paint, and seats were sent out to others ... we chose Ford Sonic Blue paint). Now as my 18-year-old son gets ready for college, this car is a bond that we share and talk about all the time. So happy that I decided to do say yes to his "crazy idea" about fixing up a classic car!

Enjoy the pictures!

Congratulations!! As time goes by that classic will mean more and more to you and your son!

Beautiful bird. May I ask what you paid for the paint and body?

Nice! Ours we not look like that as we are doing a preservation not a restoration.

I paid about $7k for body and paint. Paint was $1k ... body work was the rest. They had to replace both rear quarters and the rear wheel flares. And there was significant rust spots in various places. They had to move the rocker panel and I also had them fill in the side trim holes (I deleted the bumper guards). Hard part was finding a shop that was willing to do the work. I went through about 6 shops until I found one willing to do the work. Interestingly it was Maaco in Arlington TX ... there is a Ford-lover in the shop and he did the work personally.

Thanks! I wonder if he would like another T-Bird to work on? :)

Hey I am the owner of this thunderbird now I was wondering if you tell me more about the car and go into detail about what you did to the car
