Looking to buy 1968 Thunderbird. Opinions?

Hey all!

I'm new to this forum and wanted to hear everybody's opinion on this vehicle. I'm currently 20 years old and don't have much experience working with cars and have always wanted to learn! My father recommended if I buy a car to work on, it should be an older one since there are less electronics and such to worry about. So I have been looking around and found this 1968 Thunderbird for sale in Maine for $7,700. The owner states it has always been garage kept, minimal rust, and runs and drives. I have included all of the photos the owner has sent me. I just wanted to hear everybody's opinions on it and whether or not it is something worth looking into, and if this is something I may be able to learn on.

I would say do some searching around on eBay and other auction sites first before spending that much money on a car from Maine. The bottom could be all rotted out from the road salt and stuff. Auctions are the best way to find deals on old and classic cars. Look for an auction place around where you live. Good luck

Auction sites can also have some real dogs. I’m suspicious of that spot on the roof. Is it rusting out? Do NOT buy without an independent third party inspection by someone qualified.

I went to look at it and they put it on a lift. Bottom has no rust on it at all. Has been garaged every winter the owner has had it.

I'll definitely look into some auctions to see if I can find anything there! The spot on the roof is from something that rested on it. It washed right off and could be reshined with some Armor-All or something similar. No rust on the inside,
