I am using AOL and the posts all are in red no matter how many times I go on. In my previous life at the office, we had our own server and the posts would turn yellow after I went to them. Can someone give me simple directions or do I have to continue to look at the dates of the posts and work it that way. You guys are way ahead of me with this stuff so keep it simple please. Thnaks

Why pay 22.95/month dialup for AOL when you can get CABLE or DSL for less than the costs of a second phone line and AOL?

Second Phone Line 20.00 (at least)
AOL 22.95 (rip off city)
--------------------------------------
42.95 Total Rip off

Cable is less than 42.95 everywhere DSL is 39.99 in many places.

sorry, they are both around $50.00 a month in Northern Calif. We just got DSL in our area, hope maybe prices will drop soon, but I dount think so. but still better than AOL. (again just another opinion) As you can guess i am not an AOL fan.

I would agree about DSL or cable. Only problem is that they are not availble yet in our area. The other problem is that the wife LOVES AOL. Why pay for both when it is available? Still doesn't answer my original question.

Why would anyone love AOL? It's nothing more than brainwashing.

AOL bombards you with advertisments, and is using Netscape's outdated web browser. AOL is nothing more than a web browser, so what is there to love? You can get straight internet access with no ads and use Internet Explorer, and you can even Download AOL Instant Messenger if you like.

AOL = Slow, overpricesd nothing to offer you can't get elsewhere, and knowingly misleads parents into thinking it's parental controls make it safe. All the kids do is use the work PRON instead of PORN, etc etc.

AOL is a joke, and I despise it, and the way it it run.

Tbird, You are lucky to have peace in the your house. I guess you are not married. Your assumptions are correct about AOL. I personally could do without it but.

Life is too short to argue with the wife about this. Maybe I could get her to take a computer class and she will get off of the AOL kick.

In the meantime, I'm stuck with AOL.

Though everyone told you to get off of AOL, no one really told you that your problem is an AOL quirk. and my 2cents worth - First chance you get to get off of AOL, go!

When you have a minute try this... Log on to AOL... Minimize AOL and open Internet Explorer.. go to the forum through Internet Explorer... This may work.. I have AOL for the road.. it is only the vehicle.. I do everything through Internet Explorer..
