Fuel and temp gauge indicating needles slowly go to far right when engine is started. I know there is only 1/4 tank of gas and engine is from a cold start. Any ideas???

I would look at the voltage regulator which is mounted on the back of the speedometer. Check the connections to make sure they are clean and tight. A good shmere of Di- Electric grease couldn't hurt.

As Ward said I would look to the 5v regulator on the back of the instrument panel, It controls the gas gauge and temp gauge, When it fails both of those gauges go to empty and hot respectively.
